According to Wikipedia, mantra is a sacred utterance, a numinous sound, a syllable, word or phonemes, or group of words in Sanskrit believed by practitioners to have psychological and spiritual powers. Mantra meditation helps to induce an altered state of consciousness. A mantra may or may not have a syntactic structure or literal meaning.

In a more abstracted manner, we can say with Mandy Straight that a mantra is a repeated instrument of thought, and it can have a highly transformative power on our mind and our bodies. This is Mandy Straight speaking about the power of visual mantras, at TEDx MileHigh in 2015

So where to go from there, to find your visual mantra? Well it’s an inside journey, or more exactly only a journey inside yourself, that can lead to the wonderful discovery of these powerful visual patterns, that constitute a safe haven for your weary soul. It starts by closing your eyes, and start drifting through strange and sometimes scary hallucinatory patterns. No drugs needed, just a deep and regular breathing, possibly sustained by some enabling and supportive audio soundtrack.

A good one for me would be this one, simply called “Mentro”, by russian artist Geju.
